Preparations
It is almost time to set off for our big Asian adventure. We have had the rabies vaccinations and boosters for our childhood vaccinations against tetanus, diphtheria and polio. The hotels are booked, the itinerary planned, the clothes ironed and laid out -but it is only Tuesday and we don't go until Friday morning. But it is better to be prepared early "just in case" apparently.

I have just checked in online. The system allocates you a seat but you are free to change it for any available seat. We are in 17b and 17c then 27h and 27j for the second flight.
Simon wanted to get extra leg room seats but none was available so he has had to settle for two aisle seats (for the two flights)
All packed and lots of spare room in the suitcases. I feel several visits to several markets coming on.
We're starting to get a little bit excited. It is hard to get too excited when you have two 7 hour flights with 1 1/2 hours in between.
This morning was a bit exciting though when we discovered that we didn't have a booking for our hotel in Bangkok. I had attempted to be smart and thought that I had "gamed" the free cancellation system. To cut an extremely long story short the hotel cancelled both the "free cancellation" bookings that I had made when I tried to cancel one. Help!!
All's well that ends well. I was able to re-book this morning and print out a confirmation which has been subsequently confirmed by the hotel.
Too much excitement for one day. Our big suitcase which has not seen the light of day since Australia in 2012 was plucked from the attic and packed about half full. I used the built in lock and then tried to work out how to unlock it. After half an hour of trying various combinations that we might have chosen six years ago, I was ready to get the angle grinder out. However I thought that perhaps brain over brawn was a smarter course of action so I googled "samsonite suitcase code" Just as I was preparing to descend the stairs triumphantly Pauline announced that she had opened it with the default code of "0 0 0"
We leave Freuchie at 05.45 on Friday morning May 11th to get the Edinburgh airport bus at 06.21 to arrive at Edinburgh airport at 06.47.
On an adventure before dementia.
